Now there's an effective, fun, and fully supported way to learn Te Reo Māori online and offline, which gives you the opportunity to share in and continue the Māori tradition.
All of the resources available to you exclusively from this site have been cultivated and trialed in universities throughout New Zealand and Hawaii, including the University of Hawaii.
Designed so that they enhance your study as you learn Te Reo Māori online, they strategically intertwine both teachings of the language and the culture - leaving you with a well rounded and reinforced knowledge of both how to speak Māori, and the significance of its history.
Developed by an experienced Māori scholar and teacher
Dr. Rāpata Wiri, founder of Māori Multimedia, is inspired by his passion for indigenous cultures particularly that of the Māori.
Having graduated from Auckland University in 1991 with a B.A, an M.A. (hons) in 1994, and a Ph.D in 2001, he is now an associate professor at Awanuiārangi Tribal University (Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi) in the school of Māori and Indigenous Development.
As an experienced teacher and scholar, Dr. Wiri recognised a need for quality educational Māori language and culture resources.
Pursuing this need and fulfilling a career long dream, he began working on a range of tools that would allow people from all races and cultures to learn Te Reo Māori online and offline.
Combining his two loves, Māori and new technology, he's cultivated an innovative and fun way of teaching you how to speak Māori, and perserve their traditions.
